Deborah Y. Strauss D.V.M

Deborah Y. Strauss is an accomplished and highly experienced veterinarian, who runs a vaccination and wellness clinic in Marion, Iowa, dedicated to the principle of providing quality care for animals at affordable prices. Deborah is also one of the only veterinarians in Iowa who treats animals with chemotherapy, specializing in canine and feline lymphosarcoma, with a 75% success rate. As far back as she can remember, Deborah Y. Strauss has always had a unique bond with animals and a dream to become a future veterinarian.  She grew up surrounded by pet cats and dogs, and was given her first horse when she was just eleven. Deborah went to school at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, where she received a dual degree in Biology and Art. She then attended Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she studied to become a veterinarian and earned her D.V.M.   Over the years, Deborah Y. Strauss has proved that dedication, passion and hard work are the vital forces for creating the foundation for success. She treats both dogs and cats with cancer, practices equine ophthalmology and equine recurrent uveitis, and works with other animals, including goats and rodents.  Deborah also specializes in euthanization house calls, so that pets can die peacefully in their own homes surrounded by their loved ones. When she is not working as a veterinarian, Deborah Strauss likes to make beautiful works of art.  She mostly uses charcoal and watercolors but at times practices photography.  Deborah’s passion for art began at the early age of five and she has been drawing and painting ever since.  Two of her favorite artists are George Ennis and Claude Monet, who she admires for their expertise and beauty through the use of watercolors. Deborah Strauss continues to dedicate her time to her passions for art and animals to this day.  She is able to simultaneously work as a skilled artist and an experienced veterinarian in her home state, Iowa, where she serves as a perfect example of the joy of life that comes from loving what you do.
